"Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan. Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord." Jeremiah 51:52-53 KJV
The definition of graven image is: a carved idol or representation of a god used as an object of worship.
Do you have statues in your house that you worship as your god? Does your church allow you to worship a representation of a god or possibly a saint that they say has the same power of God Almighty? Does your church say to pray to a carved idol because this idol's spirit can talk to God to talk Him into saying yes to your prayers?
If you have said yes to any of these statements, what you are doing is not found in scripture in the Bible.
According to James 5:16, the bible says God hears our prayers. "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much"
More scriptures on GOD hearing our prayers:
"Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear. But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me!" (Psalm 66:16-20).
God heard the cry of Ishmael when he and his mother were without water in the desert (Genesis 21:17). God heard Rachel's prayer for a child, and Joseph and Benjamin were born (Genesis 30:22-24). God heard the cries of the Israelites in Egyptian slavery (Exodus 2:23,24) and sent Moses to set them free. He heard when they were hungry and gave them manna (Exodus 16:12). God gave water to the thirsty, children to the childless, freedom to slaves and food to the hungry.
David's prayer for deliverance was heard: "I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. ... In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears" (2 Samuel 22:4,7).
Just because God doesn't answer your prayer the way you want it answered, doesn't mean He doesn't hear your request.
God will answer either Yes, No and if you don't hear anything, maybe it's because God has to build you up for your prayer to be answered at a later date. I prayed for someone's salvation for 15 years before they were saved. Yesterday, I prayed and asked God to help me in a situation and my prayer was answered an hour later.
I don't ask God to make me a millionaire on earth because I am asking for worldly treasures and to me that is asking with the wrong motive. I don't mind living in a comfortable manner - in a modest living arrangement to where my bills are paid and have enough food to eat and clothes on my back.
If I need clothes, I pray and God answers. If I need extra money to buy food, I pray and God lowers food prices or my electric bill. Praying for more money doesn't always mean someone is going to walk up to you and give you money. God may answer your prayer for money with someone mailing or handing you a check. Don't expect people or idols to answer your prayers. While God uses people to do His work - we need to fully rely on GOD to answer our prayers and not some substitute man says to pray to.
"I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications." Psalm 116:1
