There are people who do this and there are people who don't.
People who have been abused - traumatized - have health issues because of the abuse. Some do their best to take care of their health and some don't. Some of the traumatized and abused have subconsciously blocked things out. In the blocking, they feel numb. So, they cut and do other things to "feel".
Some people haven't been taught how to take care of themselves and some have.
Some people who know how to take care of themselves - don't for whatever reason or make up excuses why they don't.
Some people have money challenges which means they need to buy the cheapest food to eat. Food that is filled with starch which turns to sugar and your pancreas can't handle that much sugar. Too much sugar kills off your pancreas and leads to diabetes.
So, what's the use any way? Why respect life, all of us are going to die any way.
Every day is what you make it - whether you let the past run you or you do your best to turn things around. Working through issues of life isn't easy and I am speaking from personal experience.
I was eight years old when I tried committing suicide for the first time and I was 25 when I tried it for the last time. I'm 60 years old and I am respecting my life. I feel alive because I spent 39 years working through my issues. I work on them each and every day because I like being on this side of things than being run by them.
It's not easy to respect life. I spent most of my life wishing I was dead. After last year of intense psychotherapy, I am now loving that I am alive.
It's up to you to determine how you want to live your life. If you're able to work to make life better, then work on getting a job or start your own business. I know reading this may sound like I am making things sound easy - I know they're not. I remember living in a town where jobs were hard to get. I professionally dressed up for the part, had my spotty work record (due to chronic illnesses) on my resume, acted professionally, and interviewed for the job. I ended up being offered THREE jobs - not just one.
There are jobs out there and not everyone wants to clean bathrooms for a living. I did on one of my jobs because I was in need of eating better, keeping a roof over my head and clothes on my back.
People want to feel connected and passionate about the jobs they do before they will work. There are jobs out there that need to be done regardless of how passionate you are about them.
Respect living - respect your life by dressing up, showing up, getting the job - contributing to society respectfully and legally - work at something that brings in an income while looking for a job that awakens your passion and fire inside.
If you're waiting for all of this to happen on its own - it won't. You need to make it happen.
