I am what you call an extreme minimalist. I wear the same outfit all week unless I go on an errand or have an appointment. This is extreme. I have three outfits for the summer and three pair of jeans for during the winter.
I have noticed that while this summer was cooler than most, I was washing clothes every two weeks. It costs me $1.50 to wash and $1.00 to dry one load. By purchasing more clothes, to have at least six outfits for the month, I can cut down on how much I wash clothes thus saving me $8 to $10 a month. This investment is worth it for me.
Minimalism isn't always about getting rid of everything - it's about what is right for your lifestyle.
Also, being frugal on some things allows you to save up and spend more money on other items. It's all about you and your lifestyle. What are you willing to spend money on for more quality is the bottom line.
