So much catastrophe is going on in the world. We don't hear of a lot of it but could we really handle more catastrophic news? How is it that some people appear as if they don't care of these events don't bother them?
I can only answer for me. That answer is focus. It's what I focus on.
Focus is clarity of vision and concentration of energy.
I choose to focus on God. I choose to not focus on what is going on in the world. What you focus on comes more to you.
2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV - "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
If I continue to focus on God, more of what He has for me comes to me. I also don't wan to give foot to the devil so I keep my mind on Christ.
We are directed in Philippians 4:8 what to think on: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
The catastrophes are not lovely, just, pure, of good report - Jesus is!
I want to please God.
2 Timothy 2:4 - "No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer."
Our commanding officer is GOD!! If I get entangled in things of this world, I am not trusting God which doesn't please Him.
While I say prayers for what is going on - I don't focus or dwell on it. I know what the Bible says and there's nothing I can do to stop it. I find that I am stable regardless of the chaos that is going on around me. Why is that? Because there is no stability outside of Jesus Christ.
Yes, all of this is scary but we are told that one day we will see Jesus as He is.
1 John 3:2 - "Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is".
This is when we go see Him when we are taken from this earth. It's understandable that the unknown is scary and if we think of the unknown, we will be scared. I have these thoughts from time to time and I do my best to focus on God and what He has put before me.
Let us not forget who we are in Christ.
2 Peter 1:8-9 KJV - "8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins."
If we lack anything of Christ, let us seek after Him and study & apply the Bible so that we can be fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and continue to be purged from our old sins.
Also, we must focus on our love for one another.
Romans 13:8 KJV - " Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."
Let us fulfill what Jesus has taught us to do. Let us focus on God, His love, loving one another along with treating each other in a humane way.
