Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. -- F. Scott Fitzgerald
While growing up in Brooklyn I was always disappointed when summer came to an end. It meant that school had resumed and the days of camp, picnics, fun in the sun were over and the Good Humor man stopped ringing his bell.
As disappointed as I may have been I was reminded that autumn was here and my favorite things were upon me. The colors of the leaves were changing and as they fell to the ground, I would hear them rustling in the wind, the smells of pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon got my mouth watering, I could look forward to wearing the new fall clothes my parents bought me for school and Mom’s delicious turkey dinner.
Back then, I saw it as another season that had gone by. However, as I view the seasons now, they have added meaning with a great deal of wisdom. Autumn is the season of change; the release of the old and the bringing in of the new. It means being open to change and to reflect on habits, beliefs and fears that which we are being asked to let go of and surrender to so that we may reap the rewards of abundance. Autumn also asks that we enjoy the fruits of our labor, the seeds that we have planted long ago that have become our harvest.
Change awards you with making time to be contemplative to acknowledge that change does and will happen at any point in your life. Acknowledging change is allowing it to happen when it unfolds instead of approaching change from a place of denial and resistance. Instead of resisting, allow change to unfold and try to understand what’s transforming and why. If you accept and embrace change, you will start looking for and finding lessons in it. It can be your greatest teacher. When you accept, embrace, and learn from change, you inevitably grow stronger and stronger. When you proactively embrace change and learn to accept it as a part of life, you are filled with more calmness, peace, and courage.
When we release and let go of the old and what no longer serves us we feel lighter and freer. We become open and excited. We see possibilities and are ready to move forward to a new future, a new way of being. From this place of openness we are able to manifest new opportunities, new people, sychronicities, great teachers and even miracles and, perhaps, even a life that you’ve always desired.
